Lock works well. This French Model 1822 pistol was originally a flintlock. It was later altered to percussion.. The overall length is approx. 14". The 7.75" round 69 caliber barrel. The barrel is numbered 1856 forward of the bolster. It features a round post front sight and notched block rear sight. The metal has no rust. The St. Etienne lock markings are very visible. The brass band, side plate, trigger guard, and butt cap have an even aged patina. The stock is good without cracks. The ramrod doubles as a powder measure. The swivel ring is present. The action functions correctly. This is a basic French martial pistol.
